Our Team

Who?

Dr Sarah ZippLilamani de Soysa and Dr Sasha Sutherland will lead the event, hosted by our parnters at SportWorks.

Why?

This event is designed to help leaders in sport better understand the challenges girls and women face around menstrual health, provide educational resources and discuss recommendations for future practice and policy. We have invited leaders, coaches and athletes from the sport ecosystem to collaborate together on this important topic.
Recent research shows that coping with menstrual cycle symptoms is a key challenge for girls and women in sport. However, very little is available to help coaches and sport leaders better understand their experiences and support them. There is no standard for including menstrual health in coaches’ education. We designed the Power to Play, Period programme to meet this need. Our diverse team brings decades of experience in sport practice, research and teaching, including hosting a menstruation and sport workshop.
